Season 8

Task #3
Bitch Nobody Cares, Get Off Your Podium!
Well done to those of you who've survived. Here's your next task.
I find that some of the best Habbo outfits are inspired by other visual pixel prompts. Furni, rooms, colour combinations, existing clothing, etc. Through the power of stacking and pixel art, icearbr & I have created an array of weird but wild podiums, each with a distinct colour palette, and theme (or lack thereof).

For this task you need to scroll down, pick a podium that inspires you, and design an outfit that'll be placed on top of said podium. Anyone can pick any podium, and can switch at any time. There is no capacity on the podiums. 5 of you could pile onto one and I wouldn't mind.

There is no "wrong" way to approach this task. You could duplicate the podium's features to a tee, or you could ignore them and design something that complements the podium while also looking different. Either is fine. At panel, your outfit along with its selected podium will be judged together as one art piece.
Choosing a podium that best lets you express creativity is key - don't commit yourself to the first one whose colours you like. If you're trying a podium and it's not coming together, I would recommend dropping it and picking a new one.
*If you want to see what your outfit will look like with your chosen podium, icearbr or I can edit it and show you. However, I'm only allowing one edit per person.

The due date for this task is Monday, December 5th at 8:00PM EST.
Good luck!

Panel
It's Week 3. The quality of submissions this week. . . holy shit. You guys knocked this task out of the park! Regardless of what's said, I've clearly wound up with the right twelve designers. When weeks have such outstanding quality at panel, placements can get skewed. You can deliver a gorgeous outfit and still score in the lower half of the group. If that happens to you, just know that there's only a fraction of a degree separating you from the top three this week. The only person who can justifiably be upset is the one who is eliminated.

At the judging table this week is another old pal of mine, Harri (.Uhu)! Harri is a veteran player of Project Runway, winning countless shortterms and dominating several long-terms, most recently LidlTerm 3, where he took the crown as the season champion, and kicked my ass in the process. Like Filip last week, Harri has not seen my opinions of the outfits and thusly has not been influenced in one way or the other. All of his critiques are genuine and independent of outsider influence.
Okay Harri, have at 'em!
It's time to see who stands tall & proud on their podium, and who rolled their ankle while trying to climb on, and is now losing the civil law suit they filed against Snawlterm.

Snawl: Pure, unadulterated art. I try to not fixate on hair & styling, but I just love the model you used with this outfit. The pale skin & janked clown mask hairline add so much to the already eerie, violent nature of the outfit. Not only is this gore fashion done extremely well, but I love how you're using the gray in the backpack straps to convey an almost artificial half tissues/half bionic reanimated walking corpse. I'm not sure if you've heard of Hans Reudi Giger before, he was a Swiss painter who pioneered the whole bio-mechanical aesthetic. You should look him up. Anyway back to the outfit: I love the flappy muscle fiber, the stethoscope made to look like a strip of cartilage, and just the overall uncomfortable nature. This approaches CC without going full overboard. Perfectly balanced, two great outfits in a row! Well done.

.Uhu: First of all, we can all undoubtedly say this is cool. There are some great choices here, however the execution of this falls flat, it almost sinks into the podium and doesn’t stand out on its own. I’m not too sure of this.. Erm head? It takes it way too far into costume, is your model seeking medical attention? Anyway! - As I said this is really cool, styling choices could’ve really pushed this into the sci-fi approach in a more editorial, tasteful way. Good-job on creating something different though! I hope to see more!

(Marq)
Snawl: I don't know if it's intentional or not, but I get a repurposed straight jacket vibe from the sweater & jacket. Really cool given the subject matter of the podium. I enjoy the orange on the feet. The shine on the metallic pants is a bit confusing, as it clashes with the rest of the fabric you used. If there was a deep, metaphorical meaning behind the use of those pants, you failed to explain it to me. With those pants and the gold chain around your neck, part of me wonders if you accidentally designed this for friendship bracelet instead, and submitted this alongside the wrong podium, hahahah. Overall this outfit is chic and well made, however it's a tad underwhelming given the versatility of this task, and the endless possibilities one could submit. You're in this game on borrowed time, put it to good use please.

%20(1).png)

.Uhu: I like this, does it push boundaries? Nah not really, but! There are a few really nice textures here, and the colour matching to the podium definitely was the right route here, what keeps this from being boring & safe is your styling choices; the smaller details definitely bring it upto par with the others this week. I think you really thought about each item you placed onto your model, as I look through them all, each one is needed to reference all the textures on the podium. Good job!

Pine
(Nate)
Snawl: When dealing with a podium whose colours are monochrome and whose textures are one note, the smart thing to do would be to either blend into it seamlessly, or stand out from it outrageously. You did, well. . . neither? I'll admit I really enjoy the top half of this outfit, it looks like a drawer full of disorganized silverware. The mismatching of texture plays to the strengths of the podium which is in of itself a bit mismatched. The upper chest area is easily the most interesting part of the whole outfit, everything else is rather shortterm level quality. I do enjoy the dots of white, though. It's an honest effort, but I'm rather disappointed. You're a very technical designer and so I predicted you would slam dunk this task. Not a horrible outfit at all, but lacks the wow factor. Thank you.

%20(1).png)

.Uhu: This is probably one of the more expensive-looking podiums. Your outfit stands out amongst it (good thing), but however as far as Habbo Designing goes, yeah I don’t think this goes very far.. It feels fairly safe, I credit you on these small details though; like the white buttons all over you, I really wish they stood out more as they are almost missable. In fact I actually think a whole different colour would have benefited you, but this clearly shows an eye for detail. Clean styling.
Peyton125
(Peyton)

Snawl: Ahh I love this. Quite possibly the hardest podium, boomerism had no real approach except for literal duplication, and you did it immaculately. I am astonished by your command of the analogous colour palette. I don't know if I'm just pretending too hard, but I feel like I can see every element of the podium somewhere in your outfit: your eye piece is the screens, chest piece is cracked glass, gloves & shoulder ruffles look like keyboard keys, even the straps on the boots sort of look like cords. You're really new to PR so this probably wasn't intentional, but I just love how the tone of the podium was retro tech, and you designed an outfit with almost exclusively retro (older) clothing that have been around for a decade. Symbolism to the max, yo. I don't know where this Peyton has been for the first two weeks, but hopefully she's here to stay!

%20(1).png)

.Uhu: Awoo! Nice. Bravo on these colours, I’m colourblind but even so I can see the upmost attention to detail with each colour colliding against the electronics. Even your design itself feels electronic, but also broken at the same time, just like the equipment shown, I feel like you did an incredible representation of this podium. Your outfit alone is also apparent that you have a great eye for unorthodox fashion, using items regularly used amongst us, you still found the excitement in them. Very well done, maybe one of the best takes on the task this week - you brought your podium to life.
Slur
(Zoetic)

Snawl: Zoetic honey, this is utterly phenomenal. When I ask myself, "Could I have done this better?" and the answer is an obvious NO, that's how I know I'm staring at perfection. I am in love with every detail, colour, aspect of this outfit. Your outfit's colours are largely absent from the podium, but they're close enough to where they look related. You didn't copy the podium, you expanded on it. The two of you come together to form this magical work of art. I love the boxy top half of your body paying homage to the box you're standing in, and one could argue the narrow pantlegs commemorate the cylinders in the back. That strip of blue on the pants, my God. It's been so long since a Habbo outfit has made me crack a smile cheek to cheek. And to think I almost canned you on Week 1, I'm so sorry baby. WELL DONE!
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: God, not to have favourites or anything - but I just can’t help but fall in love. You have created new materials, they look so soft, thick and comfy.. Yet so tasteful, many struggle to make fur look so editorial, but you hit the nail right on the head. The way this outfit works with the podium is magical, it stands alone as a stylish, high fashion outfit, but also brings life to this podium. The browns delight me, and that specific blue line right down the trouser leg, oof. The tiny earring, the hair, yeah this is a knockout in my opinion. I don’t think I have one bad thing/constructive thing to say about this, except from if you keep this up you are guaranteed to go far.

(Nicole)

Snawl: I'm a fan of how you took the podium's shape into consideration with this outfit. You look like a glass Fabergé egg, and with the podium, you look like you'd shatter into a billion pieces if handled improperly. The use of the Southeast Asian royalty gown to tie into the gold frame of the cabinet is really smart, however I feel you went a tad too heavy on the yellows with the straps and fur sleeve. Also, given how large this particular canvas is, I think you could have gotten away with throwing some more colour variation as well - perhaps something to evoke flames? All in all this is an ornate, elegant, classy outfit that I enjoy looking at, but it doesn't hold a candle (no pun intended) to your outfit last week, nor to many of the more adventerous outfits submitted by your fellow competitors this week. Not bad though, keep up the innovation, Nicole!
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: I love how dangerously close this is to being ugly, but it’s actually really beautiful, it takes a smart mind to use the items you did, in the way you used them. Even down to the way you kinda created this new silhouette with your arm showing half way down your sleeve. It shows that posing is important for clothing manipulation. This whole design fits so well with the podium too, neither overpowers, they harmonise in beauty and grace - actually I think this is maybe the most graceful design this season. The detail duplication and the slight colour changed throughout your outfit really connects this to your podium, perfect styling choices too, anything more would have taken away from your outfit, I don’t think I’ve seen black hair look better. Keep it up, good job this week!
Okeefinokee
(Max)

Snawl: I enjoy how you're using different shades of the same colours, yet your outfit is still harmonious with the podium. That multicoloured crop top hoodie was perfect for this podium and I'm so glad you brought that winning combination to the panel. I love the droopy, sagging, almost melted candlewax effect you've imbued the fabrics with. Although I do believe head accessories to be absolutely necessary for this podium, I feel like covering the face entirely dehumanizes your Habbo and makes this look more like a costume or a cartoon character than a fashion piece. Also the red purse strap and gray nozzle on the holstered gun are both distracting. Besides those flaws, I think you delivered a very cool, very fun outfit. It looks like you had a blast making it, and that's Project Runway in a nutshell.
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: Now this is rad. First of all, this goes so well with your chosen podium, I think you made the best choice possible for yourself. We have yet to see designs like this this season - and I am so happy to be the guest judge for outfits like this. It’s streetwear, it feels like it has come from a major fashion house, it ignores the rule book. I really love this, it’s inspiring, probably inspiring for many. You have perfectly executed the new wave of design. Each fabric choice, and pattern choice, relates to your podium superbly. I congratulate you on taking risks and not playing this game safe, because that’s a winner.
LC22
(Elysse)

Snawl: Incredible. You handled this task exactly how I would: by adding onto the podium instead of merely duplicating it. That dark blue/green colour is so unexpected, but it slices through the bold golds & yellows so thoroughly. I've tried several times to make an outfit serviceable enough for PR with that gold overcoat, and I've failed. I deemed it impossible till you submitted this. It plays into the texture of the honeycomb on the podium so flawlessly. A lot of stunning outfits this week, but this is one of the very few that actually looks like an art piece - your outfit and podium are a conjoined set, they harmonize off each other so well that I'm willing to forgive the paintbrush lodged halfway up your ass. Another stunning outfit, and many of the drafts you showed me for this task were also amazing. Don't slow down, Elysse!
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: This feels tasteful & sweet, when meshed with your podium it creates quite a quiet design, a delicacy not many can reach. I would say it might blend a little too much with your podium, but some of the colour choices and styling helps it from blending all the way in. This fits this task well because I think vice versa your outfit and podium bring each other up. The whole vibe gives off an uplifting feel. Almost makes me happy looking at it. The layering is impeccable too. Good job :D
Xav.Smi712
(Xav)

Snawl: Clean & chic while still maintaining my attention, nicely done Xav. Despite my tiredness of that drape sash thing, this is one of the very few examples of its textures being used in a way that is wholly appropriate for the task. The incorporation of the norm skirt is very inventive and helps give this outfit an almost ethereal "emerging from the comb" type storyline. The black & white is simple but much needed detail to fend off the overpowering shine of the yellows & golds. There are no structural or graphical components to this outfit that blow me away, but your colour coordination is second to none. This is your strongest outfit by far in this game, and if you keep designing with your head, you'll outlast your own expectations and surprise everyone. Good luck.
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: Most of my critiques for both of the Bee podiums are similar, in fact both designs kind of use the same structure, to the impeccable layering, to the backwards pose. This doesn’t take away from this design at all though, The textures ooooze honey, and I love that, I imagine the cape being a heavy drip like honey.. The hair accessory fits perfectly too. I think my only massive flaw with this is that it does feel a tad flat, apart from that there isn’t anything wrong with this, and even so this is enjoyable, it has a playful feeling towards it. I think I would’ve tried to replicate the white and black areas of the top a little more, or introduce another colour, just to make it stand out amongst your podium a little more. I kinda love the fact that this model would have the trouble of standing on the honeycomb with these heels on lol. For the future I’d say have a little more fun and don’t restrict yourself. - Good job :)

(Aqua)

Snawl: I enjoy the shape of this outfit, and how you're using the wave pose to keep the cape interesting and asymmetrical. This is also one of the more ingenious uses of those chest buttons I've seen. That being said, this outfit is moderately underwhelming. The belt you used adds nothing, and in fact makes the pants look longer, and therefore more dominating. The ascot tie is another missed opportunity for more interesting texture, and in that specific shade of dark green makes me think of a boy scout leader (the hat isn't doing anything to quell that thought either). I do love the nose & earrings though, and the brown shoes are nice. Positives aside, this outfit comes together a little too expected, and ultimately looks like something I'd see designed in a shortterm in 3-6 minutes. Not horrible but not amazing either.
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: Firstly, this has vibesss, love the pose and the styling with the hat, hair and jewellery. Howeverrr, there is someone else who ACED using this jacket, and also someone else who absolutely destroyed this podium. I would love to see this design without the cape, it drowns you out so much. I love these colours though. The small details are pleasing, overall it isn’t bad at all, but actually… there isn’t much at all to really see, as the jacket covers so much - so much that I think it would actually look good uncovered. Don’t be afraid of losing an item, not every slot has to be filled.

Snawl: Piglet's back again, and he's got icearbr's shoes with him. I kid, I kid. This outfit outfit is gorgeous! I am loving the cluster of blue pieces assembling inside the coat - one could argue they look like a bunch of blueberries which are in direct contrast to the apples in the podium. Leaving your head & face bare was smart because it lets the amazing textures you have in the middle stand on their own feet. The tasty looking palette with the large coat give this outfit a very dreamlike, fantasia quality. The only part of the outfit I'm not 100% in love with is icearbr's aforementioned shoes. They clash with your skin which, again, why is it pink? I try to not judge skin & hair, but when it's this distracting I can't help but deduct points because they are hindering with my enjoyment of the outfit. Besides that, terrific work! Keep it up.
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: One word. Yum. This is SO pleasing to the eye.. I don’t normally like this jacket as it covers so much, referenced on another critique this episode. However the way you posed makes it flow, and it covers the right sections of the underlayer & still allows the design to breath. The sections, the colours, the everything, this is amongst the best this week. Every single decision you made was needed and necessary, and so smart. The cape also brings the podium all the way up to your shoulder, which I think is the perfect amount of this glorious red. Some of the best styling choices this season so far. Even down to the eyes being closed is smart, it looks great. If your front leg was further forward it would slightly come off of the platform, so this pose is perfect, it fits the model perfectly onto the podium. Absolutely nothing bad I can say here. Bravo!

(Elobstabeth)

Snawl: I think this is your strongest outfit to date. It's so simple but it's so effective. I can't stop staring at it because I feel it's moving me. I can already picture some critics scoffing at this and my fawning over it, saying it's too simple. There is so much beauty in simplicity, and it's so friggin' hard to get right. I just love the rectangular shape of the jacket bodice and how it relates to the squares in the skirt, and of course the boxlike podium. The pink is nice, however I feel like you could have gotten away with an even more outrageous colour. My only issue with this outfit is that I wonder if this was the proper task to go minimal. There will definitely be some tasks in the future where a great minimal outfit can be #1, however this task was very graphical and loud in nature. Besides that, this outfit is mind-blowing.
.png)
%20(1).png)

.Uhu: This is ok. Which if you’re playing to win is not what you want to hear I suppose.. Nothing majorly wrong here, in fact it’s a nice outfit. Unfortunately, as you all know, there are some knock-out designers on this season, and this outfit is gonna blend in the background for numerous reasons, the colouring is very bland. And to be honest none of the styling really brings it to life. I think if you took it a little further and pushed a specific accessory of another colour (Kind of like the glimpse of pinks) this would have uplifted the whole design. I want to like this but I just can’t get into it, it doesn’t excite me unfortunately.

Panel Conclusion
I said it once but it's worth repeating: The quality of outfits this week was truly astonishing! Congratulations to all 12 of you for partaking in such a competitive task, and being able to hold your own! You are all winners in your own right. Congratulations to Zoetic (Slur) for winning this highly competitive week! He is joined in the top 3 by the two Elises (LC22 & fupaqueen, respectively), both of whom enjoy their second consecutive week in the top 3. Well done, ladies!
The Bottom Three
Marq (EagerGamin) - Your outfit was really, really good. However, due to the highly competitive nature of this particular round, you simply got shuffled to the bottom of the deck. You need to push the envelope every chance you get before it's too late.
Nate (Pine) - Your outfit was neat & elegant. However, there's absolutely no way that was the best you could have done with that podium. I respect you far too much to believe that.
Aqua (mickyricky) - Your outfit - while bursting with creativity - was really campy, and not the good kind. I told you not to take the podium too literally, but you did anyway. I pointed the trap out to you, you still somehow fell in it.
. . . . .The person I am eliminating is . . . . .
*Highlight text to reveal
Aqua (mickyricky). My dear friend, I am so sorry. You are easily one of the most creative designers here - top 3 for sure. However, your 6+ year long absence in PR has you out of tune with how to refine said creative ideas into runway-ready pieces. You need a few more months of practice to get your confidence, and eye for detail dusted off. Once you do that, you'll be unstoppable, like you were when you won my Season 2. Do me a favour: please continue hosting (& playing!) short-terms with Kelcie. The two of you truly have so, so, so much to give, and we as a community are eternally grateful for it. You guys have helped breathe life into a dying community, and every game hosted beyond this point is partially in debt to the two of you. Thank you for being you.
By far the hardest elimination of Season 8. Now we must also say goodbye to Harri - thank you for putting your time zone difference aside and helping me judge these outfits. Stay in touch!
Your 4th task is uploaded and ready to go. Good luck, final 11!
