Panel - Week 8

The Habbo messaging system is FUCKED! If you haven't already noticed, sometimes messages do not go through when messaging someone offline. I don't know why, but it just doesn't register sometimes. Every time a new week starts, I message ALL contestants whether they're online or not. So if there's a week where I apparently missed you, I didn't. I strongly urge you guys to check this website at least once every 2-3 days.

This week's deadline was extended by 1 day because I fucked up and typed two different dates at two different places and it confused the jizz out of some of you. Sorry about that! I posted a heads-up on the Notices page but I assume none of you actually bothered reading it so fucking whatever!

Other than those points, this is your usual panel. You're all getting judged and someone is getting eliminated.

With that out of the way, it is time to see who flourishes in the wind, and who will be getting chopped down, put through the wood chipper, pounded into pulp, and have my new How To Snawl fashion guide booklet printed on their face.

First up is Bri, whose malady was Tree Rot.

Outfit: Bri, this is a stroke of genius. When I assigned you your malady, I was thinking to myself: "Hmm maybe I should give her a different one because tree rot is going to be very hard to portray in an outfit." but you nailed it flawlessly. You embodied the feel and textures, the colours are natural, and you were inventive in the way you used that backpiece. You have yet to deliver a bad outfit all competition!

Photo: Your modelling was so amazing, I was torn between picking this photo VS another photo I had of you thrusting yourself upon the baobob tree. I went with this one because you're showcasing the textures from behind. You modelled your outfit in a way that shows how you understood all sides and angles. You've propped yourself on the rock causing you to elevate yourself above the grass and remainder of the set. This is truly fantastic.

Second up is Kara embodying a Flood.

Outfit: The way you have the blue running rampant through the shirt reminds me of a wetland slowly being engulfed by a storm. So I think this portrays a flood very well! The colours are great but I have one big issue with this outfit: WHERE THE FUCK IS THE UNIQUE TWIST? I asked for something unique to kick it up a notch. The colour palette may be great, but the clothes aren't that inventive and you have no unique aspect! What a shame, this could've been a fantastic outfit.

Photo: The pose is actually really good. You look like you're rapidly emerging from the water. It totally looks like a fashion shot. Your modelling on set as a whole was also good.

Next is Jade with Extinction & Drought.

Outfit: I am really captivated by the top half and how you used the fishnet bra. I don't know if this was your goal, but when I look at this outfit, the brown dress makes me think of a giant stump and everything else above makes me imagine old, dead, twisted branches. I think you conveyed your theme very well. I was worried you'd show up in an all-beige outfit looking crusty as hell, but instead you design a beautiful unorthodox costume that flourishes your portfilio in this competition. Nicely done!

Photo: The outfit is amazing, but the pose is passable. I was expecting a lot more from you because you're usually always one of the highest scorers when it comes to posing, but this week you totally lost your head. Your modelling was decent, but for some reason I couldn't capture it on the photo. You seemed to be reverting yourself back to the generic basics, and as I looked through the frames I was totally uninspired. Hopefully this is just a one-week slump that you will soon be out of.

Nextly is Kayllah with Maggots.

Outfit: The colours are great, and I love how you represented maggots with the necklace. My biggest ponder is whether or not this outfit is good enough for this competition. You've nailed all of the technical aspects so there's certainly nothing bad about it, but at the same time I don't see much inventiveness in it besides the necklace thought.

Photo: The photo is cool because you look like you're acting like literal maggots, scrounging through the plants. I wish you weren't sitting because it makes your outfit that much harder to look at. I am willing to cut you a bit of slack because this was by far the most difficult set, but I gave you certain advice and posing locations where you could be IN the bamboo without having it block your outfit, and you ignored them. Eh, your loss. Could've had an amazing photo.

Fifthly is Allanah portraying Vandalism.

Outfit: You were one of the few people who actually drew inspiration from an actual tree [weeping willow] and I think you portrayed it well. The proportions are right and I loved the backstory for the veil. I think you portrayed grafitti in a creative and intricate way. A flaw that I want to point out are the shoes; I don't think having them blue does any justice for the outfit. I know you had symbolic meaning behind having them, but some things are better left said than done. Also I would've wished to see more diversity on the top front, whether it would be shades of green or different textures. I feel like it's an untouched canvas. But besides those two things I think this is a good outfit.

Photo: The outfit is rather large so there isn't much you could've done, so I think the pose itself is good. Overall a good photo. However your modelling was a bit slow and safe-playing. I felt you didn't try too hard to take a risk. This is understandable since this is only your second week in this competition-- everyone else had anxiety on their first few weeks as well. So I just hope that you can quickly adapt to the competition and catch up with the rest.

Next up is Vicky with Choking Vines.

Outfit: Vicky, I love you so much, but this is another bleak outfit :(. Ever since you got best photo on Week 5 you've just been going downhill and it's so sad to watch. This outfit does represent choking vines well using the suspenders and necklace, but everything as a whole just isn't flattering. You were the only one so far who failed to take their outfit out of the CC realm and make it into something costumey, but also high fashion. The bottom half is uninspiring and doesn't match the top at all in terms of textures and palette. The top is clunky and just looks haphazardly tossed together in an effortless fit.

Photo: I like the photo because it looks like you're embracing yourself upon the fence like vines, but there isn't much going on. I think there are better things you could've done than wave to imply that effect. This might be your last week. If it is, I want you to know that it is truly inspiring that you're not even that much of a designer, yet you can come into this game and get best photo and get to the final 9. You have everything to be proud of, but as it stands, you have the lowest score unless someone else bombs it later on.

Seventh up is Joseph portraying a Forest Fire.

Outfit: I am at a loss of words for how underwhelming this is... THIS is the best Joseph has to offer when asked to represent a forest fire in his outfit? A MOTHERFUCKING FOREST FIRE! Come on! Where's the heat, the death and destruction, the ashes? So much intensity could've been drawn. Instead we get some library-dwelling nerd trying to join Cady & Regina's Jingle Bell Rock performance during their school's Christmas talent show. You put no effort into this outfit so I am going to put no effort into the critique.

Photo: The pose is good but that doesn't AT ALL begin to compensate for this horrid outfit. I can only assume that you thought you'd be automatically safe for winning best photo last week, but you're sadly mistaken. This isn't the first time you've angered me by your performances. On Week 2 you didn't even receive a critique because you broke rules on set, then in Week 4 you broke a task rule. Now it's Week 8 and you still need to be babysat. Unbelievable. I need to play some Call of Duty, shoot some prepubescent faggots and calm down before I continue judging.

Next is Savon whose malady is an Oil Spill.

Outfit: You're another contestant who chose a specific tree [cherry blossom] and I think you portrayed it well. You've managed to successfully capture the gentle, peaceful essence that it symbolizes while also being motivated by the ghastly, horrific cloaking power of an oil spill. It's a really nice contrast. There are parts of the outfit that I figure could have more of a costume-touch to it like the front part where it's a shirt, necklace and coat. But I think the colour palette alone does a good job at conveying your story. Overall I think this is another good photo from you.

Photo: I love the deathly stare you're giving in the camera; you look like you're resenting your place. You're gazing at the viewer saying "Look at me, humanity! This is your fault!" It's fashion, but it's also inducing a message. That isn't easy to do but you knocked it out of the park.

Lastly is Valentina whose malady is Rock Slide.

Outfit: I like the fabrics you used and I think they're meshed very well. The front has nice detail and the dress is a great way of representing rocks. It makes me think of an anchor-- a big slab of rock pulling the tree down. Although the textures are pretty unique and interesting, I don't think there's much of a flare or wow-factor to the outfit as some of the others this week. Overall it's a good outfit but forgettable if I were to compare it to a few of your other pieces.

Photo: I am always skeptical about side-diagonal poses because it limits the outfit, but I actually like this pose. It looks like you're about to fall back with the rocks. Your modelling was good and I am a bit leanient towards you because you had one of the more difficult sets. If I have any request to carry to next photoshoot, it would be to get your outfit done a bit quicker so we're not panicing about missing the deadline next time. :)
