Week 11 - Panel
And then there were four... This is crazy. It seems like just last week I was sitting down to judge 18 photos, and now I'm reduced to judging 4 photos. Now I am actually looking forward to judging the outfits because no longer is it considered a chore. You 4 are the best 4, so I know I'm in for something good. Not to mention this is my favourite task yet.
For this week, similar to week 4, you were given a bucketlist of rules you had to abide by, all while designing modern, chic winterwear for the streets of russia. Think of this like an upcycled version of the cliche "Design russian winterwear!" task that has been flogged to death in every PR.
3/4 of you finished the task within the first day! So for that, thank you. I'd like to take this time to advertise for Julie (KidyCat) who will design themed rooms and full theatre rooms for photoshoots, concerts and Habbo music videos. Hit her up if you have coins to spend, but are too lazy to actually buy and build a room.
Now, with the top 4, it's time to see who is chillin' with the locals, and who stands out like an obnoxious American tourist.
Jade

Outfits: The lighter outfit (far back) is sadly, not working for me at all. While the clothing choices are interesting, I feel the whole colour palette is imprecise. The dark colour palette gives off an elderly, homely vibe for me. I just honestly don't see this being used in a clothing line ad for streetsmart wear. The burgundy and light brown are a good colour combination, but like I said above, it isn't at all cohesive with this task. The reason why I made the rule of making one of the outfits contain a flashy palette was to PREVENT something like this from happening. Despite the blue scarf, I just get get over the rest.
For the heavier outfit, I love the layers you used. The scarf was a smart idea, I love that there's a belt or something peeking through the purple coat. And surprizingly enough, I like the blue earrings. The only thing about this outfit I don't like is the colour you chose for the bottom layer. The purple & orange work amazingly, but the everest green just looks unnatural. If it was something like creme or a light grey, this could've been a monumental outfit. I appreciate the level of risk-taking you are doing, but I feel at the end you sort of missed the point of the task.
Photo: Your modelling was better than last week. The pose for the lighter outfit is outstanding. Your modelling was, as typically, a bit slow-paced, but I can at least say you ARE improving.
Bri

Outfits: I'll start with the lighter outfit behind the car. Much like what I said with Jade, the clothes themselves are great but the colours are mismatched. The whole green above red gives me an Oxford Professor vibe. Something as simple as changing the grey sweater underneath to white would've elevated this outfit drastically. However I do like that you kept it real. If this were a black and white photo, I would actually be compelled to buy the outfit because it looks modern and sleek. Also maybe I would've chosen a different pair of glasses.
Your second outfit has one of the best colour palettes of this entire week. It's absolutely gorgeous. The purple/blue skirt against the shiny black heels is giving me LIFE! The half blue, half viridescent greenish coat is stunning against the red and white. The tanned visors are amazing. Seriously this is jaw-droppingly fierce. However it's not perfect. For the actual clothing, I don't think I would've went with such a loose, free-flowing skirt. The top half is decent but the bottom just looks unrealistic and quixotic.
Photo: The photo is also divided. One pose is great while one is sleep-inducing. Also, on set, you had one of your worst set performances all game. Come to think of it, I don't think you actually EVER strugglied with modelling... up until this week. It's a shame because you're supposed to be getting better as time goes by, not worse. I understand if you're lagging really bad, but at the same time, what am I supposed to do about it? I can't just give you 100% because you have bad internet; that would be unfair to everyone else who put in an effort.
Kayllah

Outfits: I'll start with the heavier one on the far left. It's hands-down your best outfit of this entire game. I am so annoyed at the fact you're doing well because I believe the other 3 deserve it more than you, but then again, if it's any time to improve it's now. The fact that you used that giant trenchcoat and managed to make the outfit look original and unique is amazing because most people who use that coat end up looking basic and uninventive. The orange and yellow is a beautiful tone. The white dress adds a lot of depth. I literally am lost for words, it's just all so amazing. Love the white gloves, too!
Your second outfit isn't as fantastic, I found... Much like what I said with Jade's first outfit, I felt the colours are very homely and not really corresponding to what this task was looking for. The blue jeans are great with the black heels, but everything above the waist looks like it belongs in a totallydifferent realm. However, I do like how you tried to make the backpiece and hood look attached.
Photo: Your modelling was actually really good, for the first half. The pose on the right is great. But the pose on the left is a bit bland. I understand I didn't own this room so you had a few people interrupting the shoot, but you shouldn't let that knock you off your game. It's a shame to pair a phenomenal outfit with a mundane pose.
Savon

Outfits: Okay first off, I asked for pitch black heels and instead yours are dark grey. HOWEVER, I am willing to give you a bit of slack because out of everyone, you are the only one who gave me high-fashion on all fronts of street, modern and chic... on BOTH outfits! I'll start with the one of the left: I love the white layering the red. It just oozes what I like to call classy-modern which I am aware is an oxymoron. The black hat actually works with the rest of the outfit in harmony, despite having a much more dense hue. Even the shades of red are toned! I don't think there is one thing I would change about this fantastic outfit... besides the shoes of course.
The heavier outfit (on the right) is also very modern. What I like the most is how both of these outfits are comparing and contrasting at the same time. They compare in a way that they're both winter clothes suitable for today's modern market, but they contrast so diversely in the colour palette, despite managing to use the SAME palette for both outfits! All I have to say is WTF (and I mean that in a good way.) Much like what I said to Kayllah's first outfit, you managed to use a large coat and work around it gracefully, rather than just slapping it on and letting it engulf your outfit. One thing I don't like about the second outfit are the is the all-black cluster on your head. Other than that it's another great outfit.
Photo: Your modelling was pretty good. Your set was crowded and you didn't let it affect you. The pose on the right is stunning; it looks like you're leaning against the building. The pose on the left is mediocre, I've seen you do better. You had a lot of suggestions and ideas to contribute on set which I liked as well.
