Panel - Week 2

First and foremost, this week was HEAVILY delayed again. I am extraordinarily sorry about that. I will try my hardest to make sure it will never happen again. I want to thank all of you for once again waiting patiently and sticking by my side through a tough time.

Sadly, for reasons I will keep classified, Emily has been disqualified from the competition. This puts you all at the final 16, with 15 designers moving into Week 3 after this panel. This is okay because Week 3 was scheduled to be a double elimination, so I will make it single so this game stays on pace.

For this week, the Set Performance section is only worth 10% of this week's total scoring. People who did decent and had no flaws received 10/10 and got a short minimal explanation such as "You modelled good on set and had no major technical flaws." and whatnot. Also, the Before & After makeover pictures are NOT being judged. All of the critiques that fall under the Photo or Outfit section are all based on the Tokyo alley photos.

So without further ado, let's see who is rockin' it in the rain, and who is just washed up.

First up is Ashlyn

Photo: I quite like how you're staring off into the distance. It is a pretty attractive picture. However it fails to embrace 50% of the task in hand, which was combining sophistication with flashyness. I see flashy, but that's it. This looks like something a raver from the '80s would wear. Overall not impressed.

Outfit: I like the actual outfit, but I have a question: On what fucking planet would this be considered sophisticated? I rest my case. I even pointed it out before you began modelling. I said I failed to see sophistication in your outfit, so you change your hat. Whooptie-fuckin'-doo! There's still 90% of an outfit that looks like an acid trip. The purpose of this whole photoshoot was to stand out from the crummy background, but with that mess, you totally did the opposite and blended in.

Set Performance: On the alleyway set you modelled very slow which was unusual because you're normally not moving at the pace of a sloth. Then during makeovers it took you a good 5 minutes just to get the one-shot Before & After photos because you were too busy fucking around with gold bars.

You're a talented designer, but this game has not been your spotlight. I wouldn't call it unlucky because this is the second week in a row that you've bombed. Maybe you're losing your touch? Who knows. I can't judge you based on how well you perform in my short terms, I can only take what you deliver HERE, and calculate the score. Sorry Ashlyn but this might be your ticket out of here.

Up next is Bri

Photo: I love that pose. It looks abnormal and almost a bit uncomfortable, but that's fashion for ya! I love the head-on stare you're serving as well. You look like you know you're too high-strung to be in a dingy alley like this, but you're in it, so you're milking every moment of it. This is a very stunning photograph, again. I am very impressed with your performance in this game so far.

Outfit: I really love it. I love how the majority is contrived of a pitch black and light grey, yet you still look flashy. The green shoes were a stroke of genius. The whole outfit comes together in absolute harmony. What makes it so enjoyable is the fact knowing last week you delivered something sweet, simple and sensual, but this week you give me bold and modern. It shows you're talented in multiple fields.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

Bri, you're not a fluke. I know you're a struggling PR host who constantly gets picked on by her peers and is trying hard to survive in the hosting industry, but if your designs are ANY indication of your fashion potential, you can be huge. It's been two tasks and both times you've knocked it out of the park. Thank God for applying!

Thirdly is Jack

Photo: You instantly stand out from the background which is good. Your colours weren't as flashy as I hoped, but nevertheless it gets the job done. I see a lack of energy, but this outfit looks totally original. I've never seen anything like this from you before. So I am a happy camper.

Outfit: Like I said above, the colours aren't as flashy as I wanted them to be. Come to think of it, they're not flashy at all! They're very gentle and homely. I really like how you centered the pink in the middle and surrounded it with creme legs and shoulders jutting off. It almost looks like a sexy starfish. The box jeans go really well against that jagged belt. I think the baggy norm pants would've looked better and would've added to the flowy couture feel, but overall it's a really solid outfit.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

I am very impressed with your level of creativity this week. Had you incorporated more of a flashy feel, you could've easily gotten best photo. I want to see more of this inventiveness from you. And your new red weave is fucking hot.

Up next is Jade

Photo: This photo is almost like a visual oxymoron. You DO look like you belong there due to the colours, but at the same time, due to the fabrics, you look like you don't. I guess that's a good thing because I can honestly say I've never seen it before? The over-the-shoulder facial profile isn't normally great but you did it well against the wall.

Outfit: It was underwhelming to say the least. You definitely got the sophistication down, but I think you took it a bit too literal. If it wasn't for the outrageous palette, you could wear this outfit to an office party. Rich and fancy doesn't mean executive. I also wasn't a fan of the green jeans. I think they were a ballsy risk and I applaud you for that, but sadly not all risks pay off. This one surely didn't. However, I really love how you matched the colour palette from the necklace [which you can't see] to the earrings. I thought that was very creative and I commend you heavily.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

Not much to say this week. You aimed, shot, and missed. This was definitely not your week to shine. The scoring system of this game just continues to prove how you can be on top one week and on your knees the next. I hope you can pull it together soon, especially since your makeover is fierce.

Next is Joel

Photo: There's nothing too amazing about it. The outfit is nice but it's hard to see because of your position, and the pose is effective but doesn't leave a lasting impression. There's really not much to say about this picture, Joel. It's boring. I am sorry!

Outfit: From what I can remember, your outfit was actually really good. I enjoyed the stripes and how you laid out the textures on the front. Overall you had the potential to make this into a stunning picture but your poses deprive you of all glory deserved.

Set Performance: You were okay for the most part but 60% of your frames were you in a diagnel position like so.

I still consider you a strong competitor in this game. Babe Ruth didn't hit a home-run every try. Next time please be more considerate about how your outfit shows up in film. This reminds me of Season 1 Week 1 when you dressed as a greaser. You had a fantastic outfit but it was hidden behind that fence.

Nextly is Joseph

I'm not going to critique you. You don't deserve it after pulling off that shit during your photoshoot. I sincerely hope you were joking, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

You did really good, I'll say that. You're not eliminated so think of this as a second chance.

Up next is Kara

Photo: It seems a little too bubbly and fun, but I didn't advise on not doing that so I guess I can't penalize you. I really like how you chose to sit because it adds a lot of drama to the photo. The rain cascading over your Habbo's face while you look happy is a story-telling fashion photo. I think you really worked the set to your advantage this time.

Outfit: At first I shrugged it off, but the more I look at it the more it grows on me. I really love the colours. Everything was selected perfectly and there isn't one piece of clothing that doesn't look redundant or out of place. It was very well-concieved, and crafted with care. The blue and orange on the front is my favourite part because it looks almost seapunk-ish. Then you added LENGTH by using a dress which contradicts the filthy alleyway background even more. This is a very impressive performance.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

I'm glad to finally see you break out of your shell. Last week's performance by you was utterly forgettable. But this one is all-star quality. Keep it up!

Arriving next is Kayllah

Photo: I like how you're close to the fence, but not hiding behind it. The pose works well but there's no drama or emotion in this photograph. But you did a good job at looking out-of-place which was the sole purpose of this dingy set.

Outfit: I am really happy with it. It is an original piece; I've never quite seen anything like this before. I like how you duplicated the belt's palette onto the skirt. The nude shoes work well. And despite using a cliche jacket, it all comes together and looks very nice and sophisticated. My only issue is, as much as I love that shirt, I think its design wasn't the best for this task and sort of makes this outfit look like it is for a much older audience, if you get what I'm saying.

Set Performance: Your modelling was good for the most part, but you did glide along the edges of the set a lot. So a bit of your photos had lots of black abyss in them. Try to avoid that next time please.

Another good performance from you, but I haven't seen anything spectacular yet. I know you still have it in you so I am willing to wait a bit for you to bust it out. Goodluck next week.

Lauren is Next

Photo: I like the pose because it is creative and daring. You were the only one who had the balls to sit ON the ground. The rain washes over you pretty good for a neat visual effect. My one and BIG issue is, due do your colour palette, you don't stand out. To me, you totally blend into the background which is what we were trying to avoid.

Outfit: Don't get me wrong; I loved your colours. But it's the execution that was shoddy. They aren't working in harmony, instead they look haphazardly thrown on. The pop of yellow on the earrings was a very smart idea. This outfit had the potential to be great but the overall picture does not come together for me. Sorry.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

You fell hard this week, but you can still pick yourself up. In Project Runway, it's not about how you start, it's about how you finish. If you survive this week you have the opportunity to finish strong and win so please don't take this as a set-back, think of it as one of the many hurdles to come.

Next is Liberty

Photo: I like it. You look like a prissy, rich lost pretty girl who somehow wound up in an alleyway, but isn't letting that stop you from upholding your fashion. I like the side angle look over the fence, and the rain falling in the background make it look even more like a screenshot from a cinematic masterpiece.

Outfit: You probably had the best understanding of the word sophistication. You hit it out of the park. This outfit looks really frumpy and out-dated, but that's not always a bad thing. I think it actually looks good in this photo. I really love the shirt textures and the small peek of baby blue at the collar. My one and only critique would be to wish that there was at least one in-your-face colour that popped out at the eye. Nevertheless this was a very strong effort.

Set Performance: Your first frame was of you doing the treacherous pogo mogo. But I assume that was just a misclick because after that you modelled very well.

You're slowly moving up the ladder from last week. I gave you the dreaded green hair because I want to see you have an edge. I want you to embrace what most people would consider a flaw. It's not easy but I think you can manage.

Nextly is Mike

Photo: It's really great. I love how you got close to the wall and all of your surroundings because it really gives off that feeling that you're actually THERE. I can totally see this in a magazine. Everything from the background, to your modelling, to your outfit's colours all work in harmony. This is possibly one of the strongest photos I've seen yet out of all of the seasons I've hosted.

Outfit: Sometimes less can be more, and this is a shining example of it done right. The white on the top and bottom fit the quota of sophistication so well because it enlightens the textures. Then there's that orange and purple collaboration in the middle which just makes it look all that more flashy. This is a very strong, valiant effort delivered by the only male in this competition.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

I was beginning to think that this competition would be a little too hectic for you, but this photo totally proves me wrong. Welcome to the competition Mike!

Rose is up Next

Photo: This photo is really striking. You captured a facial expression WITH motion and it looks fabulous. I like how you're standing just out of the path of the rain so it sort of cascades beside you instead of over you. This is a very picturesque photograph and it is really nicely plotted.

Outfit: I love your colour palette. Like a lot. It's probably one of the bests this week. The brown and creme work with such finesse, it's incredible. My big issue is, the outfit itself [excluding the colour palette] doesn't really look that original at all. It looks like you played it safe. It's such a shame because the picture is phenomenal, and the colours are fantastic. If you pushed just a little harder with the outfit itself you could've won this round.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no technical flaws.

I am impressed and disappointed at the same time. 2/3 of the elements of this photo was done perfectly. But the unoriginality of the outfit's layout is really going to sink your score this week. This should be a lesson to take bigger risks. I can guarantee that the winner of this game isn't going to win by crafting generic layouts.

Nextly is Savon

Photo: It's an intriguing photo; I like the corner shot. I like how your Habbo looks sanguine and smug while the rain pours over their face. In terms of modelling this is executed really well. You totally stand out, despite almost being engulfed into the harsh colours of the neon signs behind you.

Outfit: This outfit is in the same boat as Rose: great colours but a cliche layout. I actually really enjoyed this outfit a lot, but the thing you need to understand is when you do "good" and everyone else does "great" then your score gets pushed down by default. That's what's happening right here. The outfit matches the sophistication AND the flashyness flawlessly, but in terms of originality it falls a bit short. Creativeness is a virtue and it is best applied directly.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

Overall it's a good performance, but it is a MAJOR fall from last week's 3rd place. You can still pick up the pieces. You have a lot of talent and I am definitely not done with you yet.

As we rear towards the end, Skye is next.

Photo: A sad emotion while sitting on a bench in the rain = AMAZING! You took a darker approach which I think totally worked to your advantage. A dark palette to work with your dark emotion. This is a very spectacular photo. I am really impressed because when I casted you for this game I feared you would've been out of your depth but you are starting to rise really fast.

Outfit: I knew someone would try to do a darker colour scheme. I am glad it was you because you managed to make it look flashy without being bright. It's really incredible. My only wish is that the outfit had more of a wow factor to it in terms of the textures and fabrics you used. But this is definitely a big improvement from Week 1, so keep it up!

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

This is a very artsy photo. My favourite part is how you used frilly, gentle clothing and coloured it grey to let the jacket stand out. I am over-the-Moon impressed.

Next up is Valentina

Photo: I like the photo because it looks like you're shuddering in disgust at the place. You're shivvering cold in the rain, wishing you were anywhere else but here. It is a very blunt emotion to go with your blunt outfit.

Outfit: I really like it. I applaud you exceedingly for your inventiveness. My one and only [large] issue is, this looks more punk-rock than anything sophisticated. There's no glam or class in this outfit. However I must say I am in love with the colours. You worked that yellow flawlessly. I am still having a hard time believing this was designed by you because whenever you play my short terms you usually stay in your comfort zone, but this outfit is magical.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

I don't know if I told you this or not: but you're the only designer in this entire game who isn't a professional. The reason why I accepted you is because you had, BY FAR, the most passionate application. After reading it, I knew I wanted you in this game. So this design shows how inventive you are, and that you do possess some skill. Keep up the creative work, but try to stay on base with the task too.

And Lastly is Vicky

Photo: I love the pose. I love the rain contrasting your dark outfit. It's another artsy picture. But does it deliver everything we asked for with the task? It definitely is flash but in more of a subtle, abnormal way.

Outfit: I like how the bottom half sort of has its own colour blocking thing happening with the dense purple and light blue. The basis of the outfit left black was a very good idea but I am not sure if it unifies the outfit completely. I sort of feel as if the coloured parts are being marginalized away from everything else. Nevertheless it does look a bit sophisticated which isn't easy when 75% of your outfit is pitch black, so good job on that.

Set Performance: You were good on set and had no major technical flaws.

You're my best friend on Habbo so of course we're gonna get comments like "OMG Snawl is totally rigging Vicky in!" but anyone with a pair of eyes can look at this photo and see that I don't need to rig shit, because you're doing a fantastic job. This whole outfit was a bit of a risk and it didn't exactly pay off majorly, but I applaud your boldness.
