Week 12 - Final Panel

12 weeks, 19 designers, dozens of critiqued outfits, and we're down to the final 2. Here is where I will judge the last 2 photos, and the scores will be added to find out who reigns supreme over Project Runway Season 2.

Will it be Savon: The Aussie PR host who was shy coming in, but remained in the top 3 for 8/11 weeks, showing off consistency as well as creative clothing that elevated his name from "that PR host" to "that guy who can really fucking design!"?

Or will it be Bri: The timid designer who is struggling to be recognized as a powerhouse, who had the highest average score for the second half of the competition and also showed great consistency when proving everyong wrong when they said she'd be an early boot?

Regardless of what happens, both of them are walking away as new designers. Now I hate to tease you guys any further, but I am only uploading the photos and critiques today. The actual winner will be announced Sunday, December 21st. Just because this longterm has been so amazing and grandiose, I don't want to bring it to an abrupt end so suddenly.

So for our final panel, let's see who reigns supreme over everyone else, and who came all this way to go home with NOTHING.

Savon

Theme: Utilizing black, blue and gold in a way that expands and shrinks the outfit proportions.

Photo: The same dance for all 7 poses? Not the best approach. Luckily for you, I'm not judging modelling. I'm going to judge each outfit individually, starting from the top left and working my way right.

Outfit #1 - The way you used the default textures on the sweater to convey the expansion is purely magnificent. Surpizingly enough I like the gold against the blue. The sweater itself is  a loose fabric and when you use it against something so pristine like that metallic skirt, the contrast totally comes to life.

Outfit #2 - I love how you made the earrings match the buttons- it looks like a continued pattern. You used a giant coat and didn't let it engulf your entire being. I LOVE the blue visors. I think it adds a subtle peculiar feel to the whole outfit.

Outfit #3 - Generic layout, but I love how you imitated the dots with the bikini top. Personally not your most inventive, but it is cohesive with your task.

Outfit #4 - I'll be stright up honest- I'm not a total fan of it. While the colour proportions are perfect, I just think the whole idea of using the coat translates into an elementary layout.

Outfit #5 - I love it. Much like #3 it features a generic layout, but the barely visible peeks of gold from behind the dress shirt is stunning and adds so much character. It's a really fantastic outfit, but at this point I am starting to grow a little bored of having the blue in the exact same location every time.

Outfit #6 - This one is definitely the most runway-ready. I could take this out of your collection and plop it into any major Habbo fashion show or event without an retouches or editions. The textural design on the dress is pure ingenius thinking, and the gloves with large coat just give off this whole sensation of concealed, hiding, etc.

Outfit #7 - You used the hat and belt buckle to your absolute advantage here. The choice to mimick the same scheme onto the shirt's linear lines was also nicely thought out. It's sort of average in terms of some of your other outfits, but is in no way bad.

Summary: The collection was cohesive, and stuck with a very specific guideline and theme. That right there is worth all of the money. The only major complaint I can think of as a whole: I would've liked to see more of a variety with the shoes. Other than that, this was a lovely collection and it further proves that you did deserve to make it this far.

Bri

Theme: Black & white, incorporating a tertiary colour.

Photo: Although poses aren't judged, I'll go out and say you did a better job at posing since you added variety... even though the kiss-blowing seems a bit juvenile. Also I love how you constantly changed your hairstyle. Selfsame with Savon, you will be judged from left to right, starting with the top left outfit.

Outfit #1 - I love this. It looks like you got shot with a paintball gun in the chest, and it slowly dripped down and seeped into the crevices of the dress. The layout is layered perfectly- the white eloping the black from behind. This is a phenomenal amalgamation of experimental textures with a posh, runway palette.

Outfit #2 - I definitely wouldn't have chosen the green, but for the outfit itself, I love how you dislocated the top from the bottom. Like outfit #1, it features unique, rough textures that aren't typically seen or used, and I give you applause for that. I love the way the sides of the coat hang down and sort of intrude with the bottom half.

Outfit #3 - The colours are great, but the top half seems haphazardly put together. The blue on white scheme at the bottom is fantastic and this could've been a monumental outfit had you just carried that care throughout the rest of the design.

Outfit #4 - I hate that jacket, and you're doing it total justice! This is stunning as a piece. My complaint is that it doesn't really fit into the other 3 outfits. If you wanted to invert the ratio of white to black, then that's understandable, but when it's that much of a bulk majority, it just oddly sticks out.

Outfit #5 - Much like what I said with #4: it's a great piece but it doesn't look cohesive with the rest of the collection. The bottom half is great, but the top is harsh and discordanting with the rest of the collectiom. It just looks like it doesn't belong.

Outfit #6 - Not only is THIS the best outfit of the collection, but it might actually be the best thing you've designed in this entire longterm! I love it for its sheer simplicity. The fact that you're able to paint a simple canvas with black AND orange, and not make it look like a Halloween costume is meriting a standing ovation by itself. It's truly remarkable. With outfits #4 and #5 you were beginning to fall back a bit, but this just revived your score.

Summary: You showcased a side of fashion that I had no idea you had in you. Your collection suffered a bit of a blunder halfway through, but you picked yourself up and you finished strong. As of typing this I don't know the scores, but I do know it's very close. Goodluck!

Season 2 is offically over!

With that, the final outfits have been judged! I just finished calculating the scores and I know the winner. I will reveal the winner either later tonight, or tomorrow on the main page. Best of luck to both Bri & Savon.

Thank you to all of the contestants who took part in this amazing game, and a HUGE thank you to everyone who followed it weekly and kept up with the game. Your support is what drove me to the end.

Season 3's website will be posted here soon, however, applications for Season 3 won't be released for at least a new months. Stay frosty!
