TASK 5 - Six Feet Under Isn't Deep Enough
Week Five
Task

*Please note: I tend to design these example photos in less than five minutes. They are NOT a reflection of the quality of outfits I expect from you. Please try to beat my example photos every week, otherwise you will have a difficult time at panel.
Hello final 10! This task will challenge everything you know about PR. However, there is a reason why I'm doing it so just bear with me for now.
For your 5th task, you will be designing an outfit (and model) that will be posing in the lying down position. Everything about your outfit will be judged lying down. Your model is a runway walker who has been murdered after a fashion show! You must design an outfit that commemorates a typical fashion show task (I chose colour blocking for my example), THEN you must convey their cause of death using intricate gore techniques utilizing the lying down position. In my example photo to the left, my "model" was beaten over the head with a blunt statuette, and was rushed to the hospital where she bled to death on arrival. Your explanation doesn't need to be that elaborate, it can be something as simple as a gunshot wound. However it needs some essence of blood/gore/burn/bodily harm conveyed. But remember, you're also being judged on the runway outfit, so make sure your cause of death is creative without taking up the entire canvas. You will be judged on how original your runway outfit is, how well you utilize the lying down position, and how original/effective your gore is.
"Omg this task is so costume-y!" Just shut up and do the task. Everything will come full circle at panel. Your due date for this task is Monday, June 15th.
Good luck, and as always, reach out to me if you have questions or concerns!
*Yes, you can change your model's face/skin/hair for this task only.

Panel
Welcome to Panel #5, final 10! This was an extremely difficult task and several of you voiced concerns over its difficulty. However, I am extremely proud of all of you for tackling it anyway. The quality of outfits this week is really good again. And as I said last week, this is a very tight race, and I do not want to hear complaining about one's placement. The only person who has the right to be upset is the person departing the competition. I don't judge history. A new week is a new week. Getting upset over your placement accomplishes nothing. However if you feel like I misinterpreted your outfit or judged it unfairly, feel free to message me and I can give you a more in-depth look into my reasoning behind every panel.
Nobody has struck a nerve with me (yet), all that babbling above is just precursor, not directed at anyone in particular. You're all great in your own way. In fact, this is on track to being the smoothest Snawlterm so far. Nobody has quit/been DQ'd yet, not a single person has missed a deadline, and nobody has pissed me off. This is great, let's keep it up. I appreciate all of you (and no, I don't believe in jinxes).
Ok enough bloviating, let's crack open some stiffies!

SNAWL
Runway Outfit: It’s a strong representation of what achievable overlayering in Habbo fashion can look like; heavy, overwhelming, gracious, beautiful. Monochrome was an interesting choice of colour direction, but I don’t think it was the best choice you could have done for this task. Adding different colours (or shades) would have opened up more crevices in the outfit, exposing different angles of fabrics in this lying down pose. I also think it’s worth mentioning that this outfit borrows a lot of aesthetics from your Week 3 masterpiece. When given a blank slate to design whatever you want, I’d prefer if you didn’t revert to a theme you already portrayed so well earlier, as it could imply a lack of versatility.
Gore: Your gore - although miniscule - is great. Being trampled to death is a nasty way to go, and I think with sporadic placements of red, you really encapsulated the chaos of a crowd marring a body with multiple traumatic pressure points. If I could improve on it, I would’ve liked to see more blood concentrated around the face, as trample victims tend to bleed out of every orifice.

Runway Outfit: I Googled “Bohemian blue” and got pictures of paint, so I assume you meant “Bohemian fashion using only blue.” Personally I think Bohemian would have been enough, and the decision to go monochrome only hindered you more than needed. That being said, your outfit is nice. It conveys Bohemian-esque fabrics in an obvious, culturally relevant way without verging on stereotypical, and I especially love the headpiece. It’s a good outfit, but like Zechariah, I think you missed out on making this really special by limiting your colour palette.
Gore: This is absolutely fantastic. I didn’t like when you said your death was “mutilation” because it’s so vague, but when you changed and lied down, I fell in love. This looks like a modern rendition of one of Jack The Ripper’s victims (his 5th victim to be specific, and don’t ask me how I know that). The exposed organs on the chest, and the peeled skin on the face, it all comes together brilliantly and is genuinely one of the best gore renderings I’ve ever seen conveyed with Habbo clothing… and that’s saying a lot because I’m friends with icearbr. This would’ve been your week to win if your runway outfit was as good as your gore. Regardless, stupendous work, Samantha!

Runway Outfit: This outfit is a near flawless victory. You designed something that couldn’t be achieved in any other pose, which was the whole point of this task. You are capturing Miyake’s trademark effervescent, childish couture in a brilliant way by pairing that skirt with a top that magically duplicates the rough pattern. Your colours are perfect for the runway task, and they are a stunning bright contrast from the dense gore. You’ve delivered nothing but strong outfits in this competition, and this is your strongest yet. Fantastic work.
Gore: For those unaware, the horn + mohawk are jagged rocks lodged into the model’s skull from impact. With that taken into consideration, this is also beautiful. Your concept is ridiculous and that’s okay, because this task itself is ridiculous. The blood on your abdomen is also lovely - doesn’t rob from the magic of the runway outfit but also has enough tone and depth to convey the task. My only (minor) complaint would be to have more gore around the head, as I believe anyone landing on a bed of jagged rocks from a cliff drop would have their head explode in half due to a rapid change in cranial pressure… but that may be asking a bit too much for Habbo clothing. Brilliant work, Filip!

Runway Outfit: I feel like you put too much effort into your backstory, and the outfit itself sat on the back burner. Your exposition lead you to pick “wedding gown” as your runway theme: a theme that has been done do death in every nooby PR, and you accompanied this boring theme with an equally boring outfit. There isn’t much ingenuity with fabrics to justify this being a lying down outfit. I get that an all white palette is ideal for selling the gore aspect, but I think it could have been done a lot better than this.
Gore: I actually really like the gore on the head. The glass is very creative (albeit executed in a silly way), and I love how you achieved an “eye stabbed out” effect. That was really well conveyed. The blood on your chest, like the rest of your outfit, is boring and easily transparent. I look at it and I can immediately tell how you achieved your look, and that is an indication that you failed this task. Sorry Peter, but this was not a good week for you.

Runway Outfit: I must admit bias: I am a sucker for Avant Garde outfits that feature outrageous headpieces and a slender body silhouette. I am in love with your headpiece from the droopy green to the wavy pink. This is one of the few examples where I enjoy the duplication of the colour palette onto the rest of the outfit. The outfit exists to highlight the headpiece which you do immaculately. A simple task, but a great execution.
Gore: Unfortunately this is one of the weakest gore performances this week. The placement of the blood is nice, as well as practical given the cause of death. But the execution is a bit boring. I would’ve liked to see different shades of blood, or maybe compression injury. Your face/mouth should also have blood from internal bleeding being squeezed out of your orifice like a tube of toothpaste. The red is a little too neat for my liking. You could have said “I got run over by a giant red paintbrush” and it would be as equally convincing.

SNAWL
Runway Outfit: This is a beautiful minimalism outfit, and you are utilizing the lying down pose to an extremely precise execution. Something as simple as vanishing the Habbo’s waistline or reshuffling the graphics on the chest is all you need to do to rebirth Habbo clothes, and you did just that. Your colour palette is striking, and the excess black (which I’m sure some people would argue isn’t minimalism but I disagree) is the shining star of the outfit, instead of the swallowing void it too often is. Really well done.
Gore: Your cause of death is both silly and realistic, and I can see it happening in a Final Destination movie. The idea of segregating the gore to your head was a brilliant strategy to allow both components of this task to sing individually. This is all-around creative, and frankly your strongest performance to date. Great work, Lee!

Runway Outfit: You conveyed your task appropriately, and I enjoy your colour palette. My main issue with this outfit is the coat. While I know a coat was necessary for a layering task, I think it could have been incorporated a whole lot better. This looks like an outfit from Week 2’s Grindhouse task due to the mismatched clothing. I love that dress, but I can’t help but feel you pressed the “easy button” by using the multilayered dress on a layering theme, yanno? Once again I am wanting to see more innovation from you. I don’t want to see you “just get by,” I want you to get ahead, which you have yet to do.
Gore: The blood is appealing and conveyed really well, but I am underwhelmed by the quantity. Impalement is NOT a clean way to die, and frankly you should be completely covered in blood of various shades. This gore would make a lot more sense if your cause of death was a simple gunshot, or a lone stab to the chest. Once again Avery, I'm wanting more from you. I've seen you shine in countless shortterms, and I refuse to believe this is you at your absolute best.

Runway Outfit: Due to your amount of blood, you had a very small canvas to convey surrealism… and I think you absolutely nailed it! The jagged belt paired with those short shorts create a beautiful rippled, spotted pattern that I’ve never seen before in a lying down position. Those fabrics are harsh, and they contrast the wavy upper clothing beautifully. The blue shoes add an ethereal aesthetic, especially compared to the belt region. Like Filip & Lee, you played this task to its strengths and used common fabrics to show me an unconventional outfit. Bravo.
Gore: One of the bloodiest deaths this week, and you conveyed it with gusto. I love how you included a darker, more dense red in the middle of your bodice to convey deep concentrations of clotted blood, and you got brighter as it moves out. Not sure if you’re familiar with how blood works or if you just got lucky, but either way, brilliant work. This outfit is striking, and you’ve confirmed to me that I made the right decision to keep you last week. Thank you, Zach!
p.s. I forgot to photograph you again after you removed the out-of-place hanging eyeball. That is my fault, not yours, and you were not penalized for it.

Runway Outfit: White Out… This is a very easy, surface level task, and it really only evokes boring outfits. I wish you picked something that would’ve allowed you to get creative with the lying down position. I look at your outfit, and while it has a cute silhouette, I see absolutely nothing benefitting from lying down. Your outfit last week was also completely white, your Week 1 was 90% white, and even with this outfit I am reminded of your Season 6, Week 3 outfit which I absolutely hated. Stagnation in a PR longterm is a death sentence, no pun intended.
Gore: Anything remotely interesting on this outfit comes solely from the gore. I like the upper chest cavity being open and having an ombre fade of blood, and the removal of your hands was cool. I also like how you didn’t go bright red, but instead an orangeish brown to convey the idea that this body was murdered quite some time ago. Will the gore be enough to save you? I don’t know just yet, we'll have to see. Thanks, Kaytie.

Runway Outfit: A topical outfit drawing inspiration from a relevant uprising.
I applaud you for having the courage to tackle something like this (I was considering doing a BLM task but didn't want to be accused of exploitation). You created an entire character around your outfit which wasn’t necessary, but it worked in your benefit. The outfit is simple in a good way, and I enjoy the muted palette. You have a near absence of anything remotely high-fashion, which isn’t ideal for a runway task. However, the idea that the earrings are remnants of a chain that was used to bind your model is a shimmering example of your nuanced creativity, and why I always enjoy having you in my games. You try things no one else ever considers trying.
Gore: The bottom half of the outfit definitely needed “help”, so focusing the blood on the waist & down was brilliant from a designer’s decision. Having blood on the side of the pant legs alludes to gravity and the natural spill pattern of human blood. You didn’t go crazy with the gore, and while crazy certainly worked for a few people this week, I’m glad you avoided it. The outfit isn’t blowing my mind, but it was a powerful interpretation of current events. Overall, I’m a fan.
