TASK 9 - Oh, Shall I Draw my Long Sword?
Week Nine
Task
Final 6! Hope you've all found your black jackets to be quite fitting. For your 9th task in this grueling competition, you will be designing an outfit inspired by Gaelic Warfare!
For this task, you are to choose one of the three fabrics listed below, and design an outfit inspired by late medieval Gaelic armour, incorporating the material you chose. There are no slots, anyone can choose any material, so don't worry about claiming anything.
This task is very straight forward, but I want to reiterate that this isn't CC; I am not looking for a literal war outfit for a renaissance fare, but rather a fashion piece that takes a clear and obvious inspiration from the source material.
The due date for this task is Monday the 27th. It's a long date because I need to get this game back on the Monday due date schedule. As always, contact me for questions or concerns. Good luck!

Panel
Hello, final 6! I hope you're all enjoying your stay here in beautiful Edinburgh! Sadly, the stay will be cut short for one of you right now in this week's panel. The quality of the outfits this week was pretty average across the board. As I said in the beginning of this game, I'm not going to grill my cast for weekly performances. You are all the authors of your journey here in Snawlterm, and it is up to you if you want to push the envelope, or play it safe.
This panel was delayed again, and it was mostly my fault on the back of poor time planning, and for that I apologize. There have also been some kinks with the Wix mainframe that I've been struggling to work around. However I think I have it all under control now, and I will try my best to ensure smooth sailing from here on out.
That's it for my perfunctory pre-panel ramblings. Let's judge some outfits!

SNAWL: This outfit is what I call ugly/pretty. It's offensive to the eye, but it is also unique and has an ambiguous charm to it. Out of everyone, you have one of the more prevalent depictions of Gaelic warfare which I appreciate. Fabric choice is another aspect I value in this. You used clothing that is typically ostentatious, and they help imbue the entire photograph with that dirty, gritty warfare aesthetic without being at all too costumey. One can effortlessly envision wooden plates on the chest and skirt. The biggest flaw for me is the colour palette, I would've liked to see something more powerful given these fabrics. That being said, this is a solid outfit. Nicely done.

SNAWL: Not only is this outfit imbued flawlessly with enough pristine Je ne sais quoi to warrant a runway show (ie the heels and linear silhouette), but the wood plates & panels are ever present without being overbearing. When I look at this, I am reminded of avant garde fashion shows with outfits that play with geometry and uneven shapes. Like a skyscraper toppling over, captured mid-destruction. I love it. This is a brilliant piece that showcases not only your ridiculously high level of craftsmanship you've adopted since Season 5, but also your consistency. I have nothing else to add that would be anything other than surplus praise, so I'll end it here. Stunning work once again, Filip!

SNAWL: This is a powerful outfit that springs out to me because of its boldness; boiled leather was a great choice for you because you are a designer who understands refinement and texture. The bottom half of your outfit is absolutely gorgeous, from the shoes to the karate belt intruding through the grays & black of the shirt & shorts. This outfit exemplifies high-fashion. However, I do have a glaring issue... I feel as if you almost ignored the Gaelic warfare aspect of the task all-together. I see no blatant inspiration anywhere, which I cannot say about your five fellow competitors. It's a shame because this outfit on its own is gorgeous and would easily propel you to the top of the week.

SNAWL: You seriously needed a comeback outfit after last week, and I can happily say you delivered one. While this outfit isn't amazing, I feel it is a technical marvel that conveys chain mail (the most difficult of the three) in a creative way while still staying grounded in high-fashion. The very subtle texture from the rainbow chest icon coloured gray was so intuitive, and it reinforces my mind that yes, I am indeed looking at chain mail. The rest of the upper bodice fabrics, while I've seen that type of design before, I must admit it works really well with your given task. If I had to change one thing: I suppose you could use more textural diversity on the bottom half of the outfit.

SNAWL: This outfit had to grow on me a bit... but it has, and I am in love with it! That scarf/beard illusion is so brilliant and it exemplifies what magic can be accomplished by posing with motion and odd angles. The waves on the bottom half from the motion add character to an otherwise mundane location. The use of the brown to convey the wooden plates, while not over-the-top original, is very clear and resourceful. There are a few tiny design choices I question, mainly the tiny dollops of yellow. But I understand the intent regardless. Overall, this is another really strong submission, and arguably my favourite outfit by you to date. Nicely done, Jenna.

SNAWL: There's an elephant in the room. . . You were late this week! As you can imagine, I'm not thrilled by it, and I especially don't expect it to happen this late in the game. Now for your outfit: The chain mail is ever-present which I love, again considering how it was the most difficult fabric of the week. That skirt is criminally underused, so I'm a sucker for seeing it in a LT. Your mustache face piece was creative, but ultimately I don't think it served you well. The backpack straps clash heavily with the rest of the textures on your chest and honestly feels like you just added them to fill space, which is a rookie move. This silhouette pleases me, but it doesn't excite me. There's no punch, no impact, it's devoid of character sadly.
