Task #3

Show Us Your Noods!

Fashion can be found anywhere, inspired by anything. For this task, we are using green screen magic to make show-stopping custom clothing out of humble, hearty, dried noodle packages. Ramen, udon, somen, soba, anything that is east or south-east asian. Nothing "western" like spaghetti is allowed.

Your job this week is to go on Google, find a picture of 1-2 dried Asian noodle products, and design an outfit with a bright neon green colour. Once your outfit is complete, send the outfit and the noodle picture(s) to me, and I will remove the neon green and put the noodle package in its place! You can design whatever you want, but I would prefer if your outfit utilized the aesthetic and marketing of dried Asian noodles to its advantage. Your outfit should feel like it was made partly out of a noodle packet by having visual consistency with the package(s) you choose.

If you are savvy with photo editing, you may edit your final product yourself. As you know I am quite busy irl, so if you require my editing, I will only edit a maximum of two outfits per contestant this week: one for outfit advice, and one for the final product. If you are unhappy with your final product, you can ask around in the PR Discord server for additional editing, or, you can take a stab at it yourself by watching this video tutorial made by LC22 for her FreshFaces Season 1.

When you submit your outfit, you must also submit all unedited noodle images you use to create said outfit. You will be judged by how well you used your images.

Here is what the process looks like:

Tips For Success:

The green screening of noodle packages is allowing us to create outfits with never-before-seen graphics & details. Try to harness that power by submitting something that you normally wouldn't be able to on any other task.

If you want to use bright green as part of your outfit, pick a different bright colour for the green screen effect and inform me when you submit.

You are allowed to use up to 2 photos; if you use 2, make sure you use two separate bright colours for the green screen editing, so I know where each image goes.

The images you choose can be flipped, rotated, expanded, or shrunk. No other editing is allowed.

The due date for this task is Tuesday, February 20th at 8:00pm EST (1am GMT).

I'm giving a longer date because of this task's tricky technical nature.

It's normal to have questions or concerns about a task like this, don't hesitate to ask.

Panel #3

Congratulations to the 13 of you for making it to your third panel.

13 will prove to be the unlucky number for one of you, sadly.

This week's task was quite goofy and out there, yet as a group you all rallied behind it without question, and your collective open-mindedness gave way for some truly memorable outfits. I am very happy with this panel's results, as well as this cast as a whole. Each week so far has been an exciting ride, and every time I receive a submission, I feel like I am 8 years old and unwrapping a present on Christmas morning. I am so thankful to have been able to host nine of these, and to be constantly surrounded by such creative people is nothing short of inspiring. Thank you all!

Your guest judge for Week 3 is a good friend of mine. He's a prominent figure in this small community, whose bold creativity of his in-Habbo PR outfits can only be matched by his out-of-Habbo pixel art. Please give a warm welcome to Harri (.Uhu)! Like Zoetic last week, Harri has been presented the outfits unlabeled; he does not know who designed what, nor does he know my thoughts on any one outfit.

Set3 (2) (1).png

Snawl: This visually striking outfit features strong characteristics that, for me, make it unmistakably a Sparkle creation. I always admire when great designers invent their own wheelhouse while still pushing the boundaries of what they're capable of, and I think you do that here quite fitly. You love the fishnets, but this is a refreshing use of them because we seldom see them from behind. I love how they border the pitch black waist cuts and overlap with the triangular heels. The ice blue against the black & golds is a gorgeous colour palette that I would like to see embraced more in real life. My fattest piece of criticism for this outfit is that I feel the noodle package's pattern took a backseat to the other design choices. I look at this outfit and my eye immediately goes to the bow, then the fishnets, then the hat, then I finally notice the pattern. Had you put the package's pattern on the hat as well, I feel that would have looked monumentally better. This is undoubtedly a high-fashion beauty, but I feel you could have been more courageous with the patterns. Thank you.

.Uhu: Decent outfit this week, it's not the most out-there, but it has a few nicely designed portions. Like the black straps outlining the whole top, and the pose compliments the outfit. However I feel like this entire outfit would be producible without any editing whatsoever, meaning I think with this specific task your design could have been heightened, maybe the print could have been spread out over more of the outfit so it could stand out. I'm also not a huge fan of the of the shoes.

Sarah (sparkle)

Snawl: Whenever I make silly tasks like this, there are always outfits in my head which I feel encapsulate what I would like to see submitted. No one else came closer to those mental prototypes than you this week. I love this outfit! It comes together in a bizarre yet cohesive way, and the fact that no same colour's shades quite match up is brilliant. I love how you used both the text and the image of the food; the retro jacket's natural slouched side curves perfectly with the bowl of noodles to where it looks like a custom piece designed with the intent of the jacket being the bowl itself. It's so cool. I enjoy the baggy pants and the weird, almost arbitrary directions of the blue straps. The only part of this outfit I don't love are the sandals because they look like worn out crocs that your toes have successfully punctured through. Everything else about this outfit is a thumbs up from me. This looks like you had a total blast making it, and that jubilation comes through clearly in the final product.

.Uhu: The use of colours and the placement of the noodle packet sections the outfit out perfectly. It's one of the most satisfying outfits to look at this week. I also love the contrast in the professional styling vs the streetwear clothing, it works really well. Nothing bad to say this week. I truly love the wearability of it, looks comfy. Nice work!

Set3two (1).png

Joey (jozinga)

Set3 (2) (1).png

Snawl: Your noodle package's image quality is rather poor, and you had me zoom in on a small detail, and normally those two things would spell disaster... yet to my utter amusement, I think it actually helped your outfit a lot!? The most eye-grabbing detail of this outfit for me, by far, is the red/orange/yellow pixel gradient caused by the image's quality. Down by the gown and the jacket's wide open quarters, it's actually quite breath-taking. It reminds me of a beautiful butterfly spreading its wings. Your idea to use two zones of the same package was quite innovative and it definitely worked to your favour, as I feel the horizontal jade stripes are adding a lot of textural value to the piece. However, I strongly dislike the application of the jade stripes to the middle part of the gown. They get shadowed out by the gown's natural vertical lines and ultimately looks more like an editing error than a design choice. I'm also not loving the blue on the shoes & hair, it's too harsh and sort of makes the whole presentation look like it was inspired by something out of McDonaldland. Such a shame those two flaws hamper you so badly because otherwise I think this could have won the week.

.Uhu: I somewhat actually quite like this, I didn't at first, but as time has gone on I have grown to see the vision of it, I see the shapes which have been produced from the placement and colouring of the Noodle Packet. I don't think you particularly needed the second packet, I think you might have been able to produce something more intriguing and make the shapes more obvious with original Habbo items/colours. I guess the critique I have is to potentially edit further to make your outfit as polished as others.

Nicole (nicrobbo95)

Snawl: You understood the task well. You picked one of the better noodle packages of the week in my opinion, and knew precisely how well the placement would work with the rest of your items. Despite your surface level success, I am left wanting a lot, lot more from you once again. In the briefing of the task, I said it was important to design using graphics and/or textures you otherwise would never be able to get away with. Did you succeed with that this week? Not at all. The concept of a detailed coat atop an otherwise minimal outfit can be applied to probably the majority of all PR tasks, long-term and short. Again, I really love the package you picked. But you're using it to sell a coat, rather than the entire outfit. This outfit's minimal, and a minimal outfit could have slayed this task if the textures challenged each other more. Imagine if instead of a coat, you did a tight belt or flat scarf. Then, put the package on both the corset AND dress, but with different patterns (or different packages altogether) to create something that matches palette wise but opposes itself texture wise - or vice versa. That would be just as minimal, but a million times more original and eye capturing. This outfit, while nice, clean, & chic, isn't pushing the medium of Habbo pixel fashion. I'm sorry Skye.

.Uhu: This is a little drab, I can't lie. A little bit underwhelming. But what is there is pleasant. It just gets swallowed next to some of the ingenious designs this week. I actually think your vest underneath represents the Noodle Packet task more than your actual edit, it looks like noodles on your chest, maybe this could have been taken further. But yes I think you were going in the right direction, I just think it could be edited and stylized alot more, something to make it stand out amongst others. Some more “pzazz”!

Set3two (1).png

Skye (squeeling)

Set3 (2) (1).png

Snawl: Just wow. The reason these pattern replacing tasks keep popping up in so many long-terms is because as hosts, we want to see outfits like THIS. You're utilizing a really awkward diagonal section of what is probably the ugliest package of the week to extract as much colour range as you can, and then you paired it perfectly with the kimono which naturally splits into these four separate quadrants. Each quadrant could be its own outfit pattern and I would still be drooling. This outfit is so much more than someone finding a cool pattern and being inspired: this is what it looks like when an experienced designer is thinking about every iota of their final presentation before the designing process has even begun. The logo, the narutomaki, the egg, even the friggin' cooking instructions, it all comes together through their initial repellence to each other. Then you got this sickly gray looking fish tie which actually calms the colour explosion and stops it from becoming too oversaturated and confusing. The only thing I don't unequivocally love is the boots, I think a more dainty shoe would have fit the outfit's vibe better, personally. Aside from that, this outfit is a triumph in every sense of the word. Astounding work, Filip.

.Uhu: The insanity within this outfit is unreal. So much design and thought has been put behind it to produce such a beautiful piece of art. That's entirely what this outfit is, art. It's so smart too, from the bold highlights mirroring each other. To the way you made these bottoms/shoes look like a brand new item. I absolutely cannot say anything negative and also can't compliment this enough! Great work.

Filip (lidl-wayne)

Snawl: Fun, fun! I'm really happy you took time to rethink your approach. Your initial prototypes were good, but this final submission blows the lid off. I look at this outfit and I'm immediately transported to 2001, I'm 5 years old, watching YTV with my sisters, mom is yelling at us for sitting too close to the TV. I love when art can do that. These bright, overbearing colours are singing harmoniously together because you had the foresight to include ample amounts of white stripes which further lend credence to the Y2K aesthetic. Whether this is made from a noodle package, a chocolate bar wrapper, an anime, a discontinued soda product, or just scrap construction paper, I don't care. This lights up the runway. I love pairing those buyable heels with boxy pants. The chest strap and cat toy thing - at first I was very skeptical of - but your final product convinces me. They add colour contrast and a bit of levity that keeps the outfit grounded. I'm also very happy you didn't spoil the textures by adding earrings or an unneeded hairpiece. Like Week 1, this is a steamroller of a submission. Great work!

.Uhu: I actually had trouble with critiquing this, as I see 0 imperfections. I love how graphical it is, it's exactly what this task was asking for. Alongside the others your outfit stands out very well, it almost looks like it's part of a sports/streetwear collection from a popular brand. The placements of your yellow and red unedited bits are so well done that I actually didn't realise the red was part of the packet almost. A really great stab at the task, good job.

Set3two (1).png

Mickey (player)

Set3 (2) (1).png

Snawl: I had a tonne of fun editing your outfit because it didn't matter where I stuck the package, the results were all great. The way in which your canvas & colours immediately jived with every possibility was beautiful to watch unfold. Unfortunately, you settled on this version which was my least favourite. While I do love the savoury, luscious brown meat & mushrooms, I feel they're too at odds with your lime green gown. The other variations heavily used the red & green garnishes which extolled the gown in a way I have never seen, and had you settled on one of those variations, I think this could have been a Top 3 contender. Your decision to maintain the texture inside was smart, it adds depth to the soup ingredients. I applaud the creativity of the headpiece, however I think the outfit would be stronger without it. The wing-like protrusions on your back are already awe-inspiring and I feel the headpiece just resembles the age old adage of having too much of a good thing. Those details aside, this is still a really beautiful, really Avant Garde and thought provoking outfit that I hope you are proud of. No one else could have made it.

.Uhu: Whilst this is extremely structural, architectural, very editorial and high fashion. I can't help but wonder if the packet you chose could have been either positioned better or been different, to potentially produce something much more graphical... something that is thought provoking and makes us go “ooo!”. Nonetheless it's a good outfit, maybe just too many distractions.

zechariah (herbymainsted)

Snawl: It's strange how Habbo PR has arrived at a point where designing something commercially viable is seen as a risk. If it is a risk, then this has been a very successfully calculated risk because this outfit is fantastic. You feature a very resourceful use of the Japanese text, as well as using the chili pepper to split the canvas in two. Staring at the text on both sides of the jacket is like watching a competitive dance-off between two friends who respect each other but who also wanna kick the other's ass. The ring pattern textile on the pants is such a unique and refreshing buffer zone between the other patterns, and it also makes the use of the hoop earrings all the more cohesive. The handbag, the barely-visible gold buckle behind your hand, this outfit is accessorized masterfully. I don't quite think I understand the torn fabric undershirt because it's the only part of the outfit that doesn't look smooth and assertive, but it's an interesting enough addition that I appreciate it nonetheless. This is - without hyperbole - the best thing I've seen you design in a very long time, possibly ever? It comes together flawlessly and highlights the type of excellence achievable by these odd textile tasks. Extremely well done, Elysse!

.Uhu: I love how this is such a stylish outfit yet your model is so realistic and seems like someone you'd see walking down the street. Everything is so intentionally placed, there is 4 patterns/prints happening which mesh so well together, it takes a very detailed eye to pull all of that stuff together and you did it in the best way possible which makes every part of the outfit compliment each other. Really good job, absolutely nothing to complain about!

Set3two (1).png

elysse (lc22)

Set3 (2) (1).png

Snawl: Out of everyone, this outfit looks the most like it was made entirely out of the packaging - like you crumpled up a bunch of leftover packages and glued them together to make this. I like it a lot! The large white scarf was such an ingenious idea because it dilutes the black while still staying loyal to the white on the packaging. I feel most designers would've just included the scarf in with the editing but you knew not to. That level of restraint and creative discipline is rare. The tinsel from the Christmas tree works surprisingly well against the package's colour palette, and I like how there's a call-back to it with the slanted belt. I'm also a fan of how you didn't use earrings, they would've made the outfit look more like a walking Christmas tree rather than an Avant Garde runway piece. If I were you, I probably would have coloured the gown something slightly different just so the lower half of the outfit didn't get overshadowed by everything up top (even a slightly darker shade of red would have been enough to keep my eye coming back.) Besides that, this is a really great outfit that tells me you're an innovator who has a lot to give. Nice job.

.Uhu: I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this, which isn't necessarily a bad thing! It teeters on being too much and a tad messy, but I think you held yourself back and managed to edit it into something interesting and fashion-forward. The way the white swirls around your top half into that scarf is really great, the placement with the red and black really helps exemplify this. So I think you have chosen a perfect Noodle Packet & placement for this design.

chan (chan.)

Snawl: This outfit certainly stands out, but not every reason is a good one. There are some strong design choices that make the top half of this outfit come together really nicely. The earrings are oddly satisfying atop the puff jacket. Your retro top was used well - again in tandem with the puff jacket which seems to be the heart & soul of this outfit. Your use of the blue + yellow pattern is actually quite gorgeous too. There's this happy, almost childlike allure to it. For flaws however, I really dislike the dress. It's completely monotonous; you chose an interesting pattern but that doesn't mean I want to see it engulf the entire outfit with no further integration. I'm also not a fan of the pink decal thing on your chest. To me it reads like some sort of Disney princess symbol which really cheapens the outfit. The hairstyle itself doesn't bother me per se, but on this outfit it again really lends credence to this Halloween princess aesthetic. You're the only person this week who used two separate packages AND your outfit featured the most package patterns (around 90% of your total area), yet I can't help but feel both the packages and your creative vision are being suffocated by questionable design choices. This is a hard fall from your gorgeous creation last week and I am really nervous for you, Necole.

.Uhu: I really love your chosen colour palette this week, where you lose me is the way you used this task benefits. I feel you could have grabbed the task by it's horns and ran with it to produce much more of an intriguing design. I guess what we were looking for was more design aspects, whether that's a more daring Noodle Packet, or differently aligned clothing items.

Set3two (1).png

necole (necole1101:)

Set3 (2) (1).png

Snawl: This is an outfit I didn't *love* at first, but once I began making prototypes with the noodle packaging, your artistic vision became clearer and clearer. I feel your last-second decision to colour the top white was brilliant because it allows the array of colours to sing. It may seem chaotic, but I believe you thought out every single hue and its subsequent placement. I really enjoy the pink stripes on the backpack, but I kinda wish you chose an item that was less bulky and more slimming. The backpack with the baggy pants make this outfit look a tad too industrial, like you just got finished cleaning a messy workplace and this is what your uniform looks like afterwards. I'm also not a fan of the shoes/pant feet combo in this instance because they are both at odds visually, and they don't come together as well as other examples I've seen that use that trick. Imagine if you wore the norm box pants, and picked a smaller backpack, and wore heels? Those small changes would have levelled this outfit up, and given it a more consistent item composition. Ultimately you used this task to design a very intriguing outfit, I just wish the final product was a bit more elegant. Thank you.

.Uhu: I love streetwear, and this screams streetwear to me. This is really cool, it feels really edgy to me. It's not the most exciting design this week but it definitely gives off what the task asked for, the placement is nicely thought out too. What you have managed to do is create a really nice texture across the outfit.

ashlyn (ramonda)

Snawl: Your multi-directional incorporation of the stripes is incredible, and I hope Samyang sent you a residual check for this outfit's unapologetic brand plug. You latched onto the package's cuteness factor firmly and succeeded in designing something that is loyal to the package but also interesting to look at. The touches of black are great for grounding the outfit, and I love the white socks too. My only real issue with this outfit is that the sideways pose is being used to your detriment rather than for your benefit. It's 2024, we've seen that skirt, that scarf, handbags, belts, etc all from the side like this before. Granted I love the sort of bilateral flow of the scarf + backpiece, but other than that, it's a very commonly occurring layout whose only defining factor is this task's graphic editing. As gorgeous as your patterns are, I can't help but feel they'd be show-stopping with a more inventive outfit. You made a boring outfit pretty, rather than a good outfit great. Honestly, I would avoid sideways outfits entirely unless you've uncovered some really cool pattern or texture that you're sure no one has used, otherwise you're sort of setting yourself up for lesser success.

.Uhu: I adore this so much! It's so pleasant to look at, the simplicity truly makes me smile, every choice you made this week was absolutely perfect. The placement is what makes this as good as it is, some would shy away from how obvious it is. It's not revolutionary at all, but it feels like a superbly branded outfit. ~Samyang~ It's almost a breath of fresh air to see a more simplified outfit.

Set3two (1).png

Jared (fierce.needles)

Set3 (2) (1).png

Snawl: A very interesting explosion of colour and cloth. Blue + orange is a classic cinematic colour combination but oddly we don't see it too often in Habbo outfits. The washed out palette at the bottom of the gown is really lovely, and it creates an incidental ombre effect on the underlayer! The "design" on the upper chest is a bit weird and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. I do enjoy how you used a muted blue instead of trying to match the hue from the package. The outfit is clearly in the same vein as the package without being a cheesy costume. As much as I love Push's kimono, I feel a slimmer, less wavy overcoat would have been better for this outfit because it would contrast the gown underneath. Too much flowing fabric like this always gives me the impression of a nightgown, and the kimono's stars + moon, and blue colour definitely hammer that idea hard. This outfit ultimately does a nice job with this task, but I feel this enchanting colour palette could have been used for something a lot more high-brow and impactful. Cleaner fabrics, maybe a little less blue and more thoroughly incorporated? Regardless it's a solid effort.

.Uhu: Oh how glorious! This is one of the outfits where I had to keep looking back to actually see where the unedited parts are, and I love it even more for that reason. Yeah it's a similar aesthetic to the other one with the same Jacket, but both of you have managed to stand alone and still be quite exciting in your design choices. Your colour work this week is just out of this world, this outfit is such a strong example of how good you are at editing. I really can't get over how good that orange section looks, the way it merges down the outfit, it really elongates the whole thing. In any other look this colour palette would have been boring, so really good job.

Chris (doglover)

Conclusion

The level of talent displayed over these first three weeks is immense, truly none of you deserve 13th place. Deciding someone to go home genuinely broke me, and was a big reason why this panel took longer than it should have. I went back & forth on the bottom two for almost three days, asking my judges for input, settling on a decision, only to reverse it again... and again... and again...

Before I eliminate someone though, let's celebrate this week's greatest of the great. Congratulations to Elysse (LC22) for her monumental win! And of course we can't move on without giving our customary round of applause to the other Top 3 contenders, Filip (Lidl-Wayne) & Mickey (Player)! The three of you stood out of this already-incredible group with your mesmerizing outfits. Be proud!

Bottom Three

Necole (Necole1101:) - You found the task to be inspiring clearly, as you used two separate noodle packages and did a lot of editing. Sadly, your end result - for me - didn't look like a runway piece at all. The lack of detail on your outfit's lower half really hurt you.

Skye (Squeeling) - Once again I love your proclivity to minimalism. This week however was about graphics, and I feel you missed the plot. You clearly worked hard, but your final product looked rushed compared to the rest.

Nicole (nicrobbo95) - Your concept was gorgeous, but your final result had issues with refinement. I am willing to take some fault because I edited your outfit, however, the decision to colour the middle of your gown was a bad idea that you still requested, and approved of the final result.

The person ELIMINATED is . . . . .
(Highlight text to reveal)

Necole (Necole1101:) - I am terribly sorry. I really don't want to eliminate you, and as I type this I feel like I'm going to be sick... but, your outfit was my least favourite of the week, and so I must. Before you go, I want to say that I will forever be a massive fan of you, your designs, and your outlandish, larger-than-life style. On top of that, you kicked everyone's asses last week and scored a win, so I hope you're as proud as I am. Thank you for your hard work, take care, and don't be a stranger! <3

I hate hate HATE eliminating people, I truly don't have the heart for it - especially when I see first hand how hard each of you work on your submissions. However this is still a competition, and so it must be done. If any of you have concerns about your placements and/or my critique of your outfit, feel free to inquire about it privately and I will go into deeper explanation as to why I score how I score. Ultimately because this game is so stacked, nuance gets lost when we look at the weekly rankings; two outfits that I enjoy almost equally can have 2-5 slots between them just because everyone did so well. Placements really aren't as important as they may seem. Survival, & artistic growth is where it's at.

Thank you for reading my incoherent ramblings. Your 4th task has been posted, and if you haven't already guessed, it's the Music Video week. Good luck!
